Exciting News: ERC Starting Grant Awarded to Daniel Truhn

We are proud to announce that our group leader has been awarded a prestigious ERC Starting Grant for the project SAGMA – Synergistic Agents for General Medical AI.

SAGMA aims to revolutioniere medical AI by moving beyond today’s narrow, task-specific tools. The project will develop a next-generation, agent-based system in which multiple specialized AI models collaborate under a central intelligent manager—much like a team of expert clinicians.

By integrating radiological images with laboratory results, genetic data, and electronic health records, SAGMA will generate clear, evidence-based insights for physicians. A major focus is improving efficiency in AI training through automated extraction of structured data from medical reports.

Rather than replacing radiologists, SAGMA will empower them with AI-assisted, comprehensive analyses, helping to tackle complex medical questions with greater speed, accuracy, and confidence.

Congratulations to Daniel on this outstanding achievement!
